Give a child more than a shelter — give them a family to grow up in.

Every child deserves to be seen, loved, and patiently guided — not just protected from the cold.

We are dedicated to children

For us, the child always comes first. Every decision, activity, and project is guided by our mission: to offer love, stability, and a better future to abandoned children.

We provide families, not just shelters

Every child deserves to grow up in a loving family, with a mother and a father. This model offers the best conditions for their development.

Changing lives, together

Through the involvement of partners, volunteers, and donors, we create real impact. Every contribution helps build a different future for our children.

Why we do what we do?

At Căminul Felix, we respond to the needs of abandoned children in Romania. We offer them a home within families that have a mother and a father, called to love them and raise them as their own. This family-based care model has been proven to provide the best support for a child’s emotional and psychological development, offering stability, love, and the chance for a future.

We don’t offer institutions — we offer belonging.

How it all began

In 1990, Linda and Lars Hörnberg founded Căminul Felix in Oradea, Romania, driven by the vision of giving abandoned children a loving family. They sold everything they owned in the USA and Sweden, moved into a small apartment in Oradea, and began caring for four children. They realized that a better orphanage was not enough — a child needed a family. This is how Căminul Felix was born, a place where children grow up in families that offer love, safety, and hope.

What we do today

Parents, children, and young people are involved in various activities and projects such as the sewing workshop, the carpentry workshop, the farm, and other support initiatives. These activities help them grow and develop practical life skills, all guided by the same common goal: helping them become independent.

Carpentry workshop

Practical learning and confidence through working with wood.

Sewing

Sewing with purpose — skills, creativity, and dignity in motion.

Noble House

A peaceful stay that helps support the children’s future.

Farm

Life skills gained through caring for animals and agriculture.

Assisted House

A lifelong home for those who continue to need support and care.
